In the modern times we live in, everything seems to have to be quick and immediate. Everything is fleeting. What today is the latest in fashion, technology, etc., tomorrow is obsolete and outdated. When we belong to a group like our Choir, we need to react against this spirit. It seems, at times, that nothing is worth it, everything is a meaningless effort. But it's not like that.
Success is not just sales, fame and protagonism. Success is doing what is right, with consistency and persistence of what you believe in the midst of the daily struggle. Staying on track in a job like ours is like running a super marathon. Sprinters reach 100 meters quickly. But marathon runners go the furthest with blisters, sweat and tears, but in the end everyone says it's worth it.
When we sing, it may seem like the result is negligible, but in reality, when we do it with God's blessing and help, we will never know how to evaluate what happens in many people's lives. We only have to be obedient and spend our commitment.
Life Sound Choir celebrates its 25th anniversary in September. I believe that 8 Musicals were made, (I highlight our original “Vidas” in 2001), we started the website, social networks: Facebook, Twitter. We recorded 2 CDs and we will soon release the third, “Canta e Vive”.
We traveled from north to south for services and concerts, in addition to Brazil (2004), Luxembourg (2005) and Terceira Island/Azores (2007). We went to RTP twice and to “100º Herman-SIC” We also had very difficult moments such as members leaving for heaven, as well as others who had to emigrate. A lot of fighting, a lot of attack but we can say: God has helped us so far.
It's worth singing. There are several attributes that we must always have: joy, dedication, motivation, vision, patience, some talent, unity, love and teamwork. This way we can contribute to transforming the community, helping churches and creating a more humane and fair society. Let us be the drop that refreshes where we are.
“Sometimes we feel that what we do is nothing more than a drop in the sea. But the sea would be smaller if it lacked a drop.” Mother Teresa of Calcutta.
