It is said that in a carpentry workshop there was a strange assembly. The tools decided to hold a meeting to settle their differences. The hammer held the presidency, but the participants reacted and said he would have to resign.
The reason? It made too much noise, and what's more, it spent all its time hammering. The hammer acknowledged its guilt, but asked that the screw be removed as well, saying that it turned too many turns to be useful. Faced with the attack, the screw agreed, but in turn, asked for the sandpaper to be expelled. He always measured others according to his measurement, as if he were the only one perfect. At that moment the carpenter came in, gathered the material and began his work. He used the hammer, sandpaper, meter and screw. p>
Finally, rustic wood became a beautiful piece of furniture. When the carpentry shop was empty, the assembly reactivated the discussion. It was then that the saw took the floor and said: "gentlemen, it has been demonstrated that we all have defects, but the carpenter works with our difficulties and with our valuable points. So, let us not think about our weak points, but let us concentrate on our strengths. The assembly understood that the hammer was strong, the screw united and gave strength, the sandpaper was special for filing and fine tuning the roughness and the meter was precise and exact. They then felt like a team capable of produce excellent results through quality furniture. They felt joy at the opportunity to work together.
This parable does not need much commentary. Working together involves each person recognizing their abilities and weaknesses. Above all, each person also recognizing these faculties in the other members of the team. Everyone is important, everyone arrives together further. As Choir we feel this pleasure and joy.
